One of my favorite places to have a get-away vacation is Cambria in San Luis Obispo county. I love the restaurants there and the scenic coast from Morro Bay up to Big Sur. Catalina Island, Santa Barbara, Ojai, Idyllwild, Big Bear and San Diego county are some other favorite nearby locations. It would be much more fun to have someone nice to share them with.
I'm also improving my electric guitar playing and have even been putting some of my "best performances" on YouTube.

Meet single man from California, United States. Although I've lived in southern California for more than twenty years, my essence is still small town Iowa. I also did a long stretch in Connecticut, where I learned to lock the door when I go on vacation. I'm helpful and courteous, and always try to see the other person's point of view. I also tend to be modest, which makes this an awkward genre in which to write. I'm curious about nearly anything. I have an advanced degree from an Ivy League school, but still like to take night courses when time permits. My job in experimental physics research requires travel to laboratories in the U.S. and China, so lately those night courses are on hold. In a recent experiment in Hamburg I could resuscitate only enough college German to get in trouble. Although I work in a very high tech place, when at home I tend to channel my grandmother, baking breads and pies and now and then hand-cranking some ice cream. I play tennis fairly well, and still use a wooden racquet. This gives me an advantage, as opponents tend to collapse in laughter when they see it. I sing bass in a very good community chorus; recent concerts are Carmina Burana, the Mozart Requiem and Brahms German Requiem. I'm in the upper right of the chorus picture, where we were singing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. The photo in white is a subtle coverup of a few minor body flaws. I like trying new things, so let me know what you like and I'll give it a shot.
