I have the ability to be fairly sophisticated, but only every so often. Love the outdoors, animals, horses. I've noticed that many, if not most, women of my age on Match put a lot of emphasis on their love of traveling. I like to travel, too, in the winter, when my work allows. I try to go on one trip a year- Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii. Often my travels are related to my work, or more specifically, my passion for visiting countries, or parts of this country, where different types of agriculture are practiced. Having said that, I'd like to also say that travel is not at the top of my agenda. That space is reserved for staying right where I am, because I don't yet know everything about this place- its environment, its people, its wildlife, its food, its agriculture, its geology, hydrology, Hope you you see what I mean. My ideal mate would share that, or at least understand and accept it in me. I hope this doesn't sound too severe or harsh, but I'm just that way.
I guess the same applies to golf, water-skiing, dancing, wine-tasting, and things like that. For me, those things are leisure activities; I'm still doing what I feel is vital work, maintaining my connection to the Earth and to my community. I suspect this work will last a lifetime. And I hope to spend that lifetime, what's left of it, with someone who will not necessarily share my work, but understand, accept, and value it in me. I'm a serious guy, and I'm looking for a serious woman to love.

I am a land surveyor and own my successful business. I like what I do, and I plan on continuing to do it. I own my home. I like this town, however, it is important to me to get to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and any part of the California coast on a regular basis for renewal and inspiration.
It is important to me to be physically fit, and I hope it is for you also. I usually walk a few miles nearly every day, run a few miles a few times a week,and do a variety of daily exercises. I love to hike. I am backpacking my way alone along the Pacific Crest Trail at the rate of around 150 miles a year (at about 2000 miles to go I better hurry up). I eat well – mostly organic, mostly fish and chicken for meat. I eat zero fast food. Out of necessity I have become an adequate cook.
I go nearly every morning to the local coffee shop with friends for espresso and we solve the world’s problems. I also enjoy small intimate clubs with music and exciting and/or intimate ethnic restaurants. I enjoy outdoor music, city parks and museums, beautiful art, galleries, and great bookstores like Bookshop Santa Cruz. I grew up playing baseball and basketball. I follow the Dodgers, A’s, and even the Giants (I am from the LA area many years ago) in the papers and on the internet. I don’t follow basketball anymore but, if I can find a ball and a hoop, I’ll shoot baskets by myself or with anyone till I drop. I like to take road trips to visit family (spread around the state) and just to go, impulsively, anywhere. I read constantly, but still I have way too many books and magazines stacked up waiting to be read. I also write some, mostly bad, poetry. I love soft light, candle lit dinners, intimate conversations, touching, and being affectionate. I am inspired by beauty; I am inspired by sweeping vistas, the sun in my face, and the wind in my hair. I hope to see more of the this country, and perhaps the world, in the future. I intend to go to New York soon.
