Date men and women from California, United States. I am endlessly curious about what makes a place - a park, a restaurant, a house, a neighborhood - captivating or pleasing or diverting. When I find myself intrigued or satisfied, I always want to look more closely, to enjoy it more thoroughly, and to think about how I might create those same good feelings through my own work. Most terrific meals and great views and enjoyable visits I've had become a kind of casual research – not much note-taking involved but with very open eyes.
I've been fortunate enough to find a way to make my living doing what I really love: conceiving of and working to create new places, striving to make them beautiful and relaxing and interesting. The work is engaging, and really, fundamentally, an expression of my values and goals and personality. Complexity has drawn me, and with it there is always uncertainty and new challenges. It has had its exceedingly difficult chapters, along the way, but they’ve never been dull. My work has me constantly talking, listening, meeting new people from all walks of life. What I love is the variety, of attitudes and interests and issues and new topics, and that there is a tangible outcome waiting at the end.
But it would be all the more satisfying to share my thoughts and discoveries and triumphs and disasters with a kindred spirit, someone who will appreciate the flights of fancy - or inspire them - or help distract from the challenges of the harder days with a playful spirit and some silly, goofy humor or a bit of banter. Or who will just change the topic altogether, with her own interesting discoveries of the day, to take me out of my rather all-absorbing responsibilities for a time. (All-absorbing, by the way, for me, doesn't mean grim and determined; just concentrated). I'm happy to be diverted with something highbrow - discussion from the book you're reading, a visit to the theatre - or lowbrow like a bit of absurd commentary imagining the lives of the people three tables over, or going to an escapist film, or heading off for a long walk or bike ride or just a good fire in the fireplace and a drink. I’m imaging someone who is visually and intellectually curious like me – who would enjoy being out, impromptu, debating, bantering, with interesting, conversationally-lively friends ... and just as content at home lounging quietly, taking a nap in the grass under a tree or reading side-by-side.
What I’m seeking is to build something grounded and lasting, with that well-matched companion we know exists but words, really, can’t express what it would be like.
And so really, now that I’ve gone through filling in this whole page, I’m reminded that all these words are just a bunch of imaginary stand-ins for a set of real experiences that can’t be described. The real connection that matters will be based on things less specific and more fundamental than anything I described – in a spark, in an inexplicable feeling of trust, in all sorts of intuitions that can only come from the unexpected pleasure of a meeting that feels right and leaves us wanting more. So, with that in mind, I think I'll stop with all the writing, and look forward to a talk or a get-together.

- I enjoy all types of music, but most recently I have been listening to a lot of modern country. I like to write my own music as well, but it has been some time now and I am just starting to resurrect my song writing/recording. Again, that's where you come in.
