It's not that I'm running around like crazy all of the time, but it does take a lot of movin' and shakin' to keep middle schoolers engaged Monday-Friday. That being said, I do take plenty of time to just relax and play during the weekends. Sometimes, there's nothing better than curling up on my couch in my PJs and watching a movie.
Two things you must know about me are: 1) I am a hopeless romantic, and 2) I wake up on most mornings with a song repeating itself in my head, which varies from day to day. I've gotten over trying to figure out why the latter is true and just go with it. On to the more mundane... I work very hard but have a lot of fun, too, and I'm fiercely loyal. My students describe me as being strict but funny, which I think is pretty good coming from tweens. I am devoted to my job but also know when it's time to turn off the lights and go home. I like making plans in advance, but I also have been known to do things impulsively as well. I am physically fit and exercise regularly to keep me focused and feeling all-around good. I have great friends, both male and female, with whom I like to spend time by doing things like going out to dinner, getting drinks, going to movies, or just staying in with a bottle of wine and catching up. At this point in my life, I'm over the typical bar scene, but grabbing some wine or champagne with friends in a low-key wine bar is always fun for me. I have a family that I adore. Despite the fact that we are spread out across the country, we possess a closeness that I so cherish. Getting together for holidays like Thanksgiving or weeks at the Jersey shore are events that I look forward to, not dread.
I have been told by those close to me that I do a great job of listening, exercising patience, and providing good advice/feedback. I don't shy away from calling a spade a spade when asked for my opinion, but it's always done with an element of understanding and empathy. Such behavior has served me well in both the classroom and interpersonally, and I need the same from the man in my life as well.

Ah well...I guess some indicators are in order - I recharge by hiking and yoga. I meditate occasionally, but I'm not particularly introspective. I mostly look forward and don't dwell on the past (...unless I haven't quite dealt with the past and it creeps up on me when I am meditating). I love working, but also love down time. I hate capitalizing when I type, but other people seem to appreciate it so I try. I don't have a TV, but I do have netflix & hulu. My orchid success rate is about 50:50. And yes, I admit to reading paranormal romance novels - why dwell on reality when trying to relax? Cabernet, yes! Chardonnay, never. Open, honest, expressive, thoughtful.
I think you can reinvent yourself at any point and create the life you want to live. I have been many things...an organic farmer in Honduras, an environmental educator in California, and now I work in the medical device industry where I really feel at home. I am so grateful for the full life I have led, for the people in my life who have challenged me, for my son who continues to challenge me to be the best person I can be. I feel so blessed to have such amazing friends and family.

Likes kids (FYI: I love my son (almost 12) more than life, much to his dismay). Outdoor fun a must...cleans up good, not a slave to fashion, but probably no socks with sandals, if that helps.
