I am a father. My son lives with me most of the year. He keeps me pretty occupied, and if the charms of a little boy are lost on you, you won’t be happy here.
I have a well-developed sense of humor, and I will appreciate your wit and sense of humor, too. I will have no trouble keeping up with you in that regard. I used to be athletic and toned, but an injury and upcoming surgery (and rehab to come) have left me just about average (I'm not happy about that, either). If you would like to help me get back in shape later on, that would not be a bad thing.
I am a man of two worlds. I am both an academician and a farmer. From the farmer: If a life on the farm is not your cup of tea (or coffee in my case), just point out the window and say “Look! Cows!” as you drive by. I am also a highly educated, highly trained professional. This can be a problem for me because I really have feet in two worlds that are not always compatible. Sometimes I want to wear a suit and tie, but have to wear jeans and boots. Other times I want to wear jeans and boots, but have to wear a suit! Sometimes I want to be in the heart of the city with culture, nightlife and excitement. Other times I want to be out in the country with only the sounds of nature and the sight of my animals calmly grazing. If you can live with this dichotomy you're doing better than I am. I'm still trying to figure it out, but it's who and what I am.
My education and profession have not dulled my appreciation and preference for the mundane occurrences of the home life. If you are looking for all of the finer things in life, or to live every moment to its fullest, you’ve come to the right place because we’re probably in the kitchen kneading the bread dough (it’s too much like slime for a little boy to pass up!) or playing in the sprinkler or just relaxing on the porch swing with a popsicle.
Camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and canoeing are all favorites. I enjoy local rodeos, but am not into four wheelers, ATVs, or other loud outdoor activities. I go to the outdoors for the sights and sounds of the natural world. Good wine, good beer, fine cocktails, great coffee, and good conversation are more favorites.
I have no time for TV (meaning I am not willing to waste my time on it), but do enjoy movies. I like the usual boy-stuff, but also enjoy classic cinema. However, much of my current viewing is limited to Veggie Tales, Gulliver’s Travels and the like on Netflix.
I work with livestock: cattle, goats, sheep, and sometimes horses. As part of my work I often assist livestock producers with some of their work or attend livestock shows around the state (I come home a little stinky sometimes!). I can ride, but not well, and wish I could ride more often.
If you’ve come this far, you have probably already figured out what I am looking for, but since neither of us is likely to be clairvoyant, I’ll spell it out. I am content, or nearly so. I am looking for a partner; someone who will share my life, goals and interests, share being the operative word. If you are one of the many beautiful, strong-willed, independent women who wants to go do her thing while I go do mine, I have been down that road already and found that such couples tend to grow apart rather than together; pass me by. Couples grow together by being together, sharing the simple yet important things in life. Physical attraction (post a photo, mine are recent), is important, but I realize it will fade sooner rather than later at my age, and being friends first and foremost will keep us together for the long haul. PS! Since there seems to be some confusion, the wedding pics are from my daughters wedding March 2010, and not from my wedding. (Give me a little credit lol!!). Just to make sure there is no more confusion, I am divorced and have been for 10 years.
