Date a man from Oakland, United States. What I DID & DO NOW: I retired several years ago from teaching college students Humanities and corporate and public sector employees Diversity. On the solicited advice from Wavy Gravy, I decided to follow my bliss and returned to Art after a 25 year hiatus. Through diligence & good fortune my photo-montages are seen around the Bay Area from time to time, in solo & group shows. I try to spend some time each day in my studio, and some time outdoors working out or just walking in the hills above my house in Montclair.
WHO I AM: I've always been concerned about social justice--Civil Rights, Feminism, Anti-War efforts & Progressive Politics of many other sorts.
I'm kind and thoughtful, loyal & caring. I'm a generous, gregarious, sensuous, & serious person, with a strong silly streak. One of he most memorable qualities the women whom I've loved possessed has been their sense of humor. I love to laugh and have an impressive track record for making others laugh too. Perhaps that's what I appreciated so much about being able to teach...I made learning fun for others & had as much fun myself as the law allowed.
I have no financial worries, but pay attention to the problems of the impoverished and oppressed in our world. I have traveled abroad annually (Asia, Europe, South America and North Africa) and wish to continue doing that with my new companion.
I am competent in the kitchen, am partial to pretty, like leisurely walks after dinner & sometimes power-walks before breakfast (but only sometimes.)
Good habits and good fortune have kept me healthy. I am not, however, a health nut. I enjoy delicious foods of every sort and wines of many kinds. If you are looking for someone who's intellectually curious, artistic, active, romantic, playful, independent, & willing & able to be emotionally intimate, I'd like to meet you.
WHAT ELSE WOULD I LIKE? The companionship of an intelligent, compassionate, woman, who's excited about life and wants to talk about it as we live it. Someone who honors shared air time. Someone who reads, is politically conscious and is nurtured by ideas as much as food, libation & relaxation. walks in the hills, along the shore, and talks 'till the wee hours (but only some nights of the week). Meet people from Oakland, United States. It has been quite exciting and interesting to return to the Bay Area, after spending a lot of time, working up and down the East Coast. I realize the best life style, still remains in the Bay Area, even after living in the Northwest! It is also, very exciting to see the kids grow up, graduating from college, and establishing their careers, family, friends, and lives. I, feel, I can now focus upon making new acquaintances with the potential for long term relationships.
Really enjoy experiencing new activities, trying to fulfill the items on my 'bucket list,' and trying newer restaurants, which have sprung up through-out the East Bay. I also really enjoy my volunteer activities with three different organizations, which I would be happy to discuss with you.
Personality wise, I am an outgoing person, who enjoys speaking with total strangers and who also values quiet times. I am always looking for outgoing, positive, and energetic personalities, who possess different skills, interests, and activities. I, generally, find myself trying to learn new things, trying different things, and visiting different areas of California. Life really is too short, not to try, and to meet others on this fantastic journey. I really am interested in meeting a person, who is doing volunteer work, as I am currently involved. I'm a native of this area, but I've lived elsewhere in the U.S. In very beautiful, very different kinds of places.
I love a good conversation followed by singing in unison (or close to). Also hanging out at the table, cooking, playing music and walking in the hills. The dogs are in someone's lap in my house..
If you're curious about stuff that's not on TV, that's a great thing. Do you have time (and space) for actually getting to know someone else? I think that would be fabulous and kind of rare given the very busy lives with plenty of air miles that many people seem to have adopted. Do you live in Oakland or very close by? That makes all sorts of things a lot more feasible.
I enjoy real wit. A journeyman sense of humor seems to me far too uncommon. That's sad. Not that sadness can't be deeply rewarding. I think of how splendid some other cultures are with many moods and states of mind. Edith Piaf anyone? Paolo Conti?
I'm likely to be drawn to a woman who has worked at knowing herself.
I am more interested in who you are than in what you do, what your travel plans are or all the places you've been. Isn't there something really important about being able to be in the here-and-now? Sorry, that's probably a little too much pop-Zen-talk.

" You're a wonderful man," she said, two years after we ended a five year relationship. Obviously good qualities are not enough to keep two people together. Then what is? Men and women are built differently, so what is that glue, that common denominator that makes for a great relationship? I think they have to be on the same page - they have to understand similarly and share important interests. With that in mind I will attempt to paint a picture of myself by listing what I think are imortant facets.
I was one of those "gifted" children, but don't fit any stereotypes. I am mental and physical, right-brained and left-brained. I like children and animals, working with my hands, fresh air, sleeping under the stars, exploration, and learning about our world.

I'm an individual for 65 I'm doing talking with people listening to music studying many different subjects talking with my partner for communications is one of the most important parts of her relationship in order to have a good life I must get to know my partner thing is how over two thirds of the time the couple spends together is that of just enjoying them and communicating.The earth is important and we as Inhabitants of it need to be extremely cautious in our consumption of its natural resources we cannot do alone but we can in fact work with others to improve the situation. I spent part of my day in a wheelchair a specially when I am traveling a distance it is a power chair so I don't need someone to attend me. It is important for my partner to have compassion but not overly sympathetic someone who will accept help but who is willing to give it where need an individual who goes church and preferably someone from victory outreach although the Lord willing there are alternatives. I'm currently working towards my degree in psychology and I wish to work with people who suffered domestic violence my partner does not have to be one of those but that does not put her out of the running.
