Date single man from Mountain View, United States. OK, so here I am trying to describe myself in one or two brief paragraphs, which takes away from the beauteous process of learning about someone over the course of time, which often is full of pleasant surprises, surprises which makes, in my book, life more interesting. However, since this is the format I must follow, I will attempt a description even though lacking it will be. First, though, I need to say that often in my life I have found that a quote by Somerset Maugham seems to describe my character: “People often think I am being serious when I am funny, and funny when I am being serious.” So, be warned!
To begin, I studied the Classics at a school in the Midwest, the University of Notre Dame to be exact, where I read tons of books, mostly philosophy and literature. During this time I learned my first main rule of life: do what makes you happy. Period. So, when I graduated, I attempted to become a professional cyclist, and competed throughout the United States and Europe. I have to admit, my time in Europe was the best: the culture and lifestyle is one of enjoyment and leisure (I know, a sweeping generalization, but that’s what I saw!), and I have come to believe that I am a “displaced European.” Maybe someday I will venture over there to live permanently. Who knows? But I’m here now. To continue…I raced for 15 years, loved every second of it, but there is only so long you can dedicate to sports. Along the way I lived for short stints in various places throughout the world, such as Thailand, Belgium, and Ireland. Yet, while I was racing, I always felt I wanted to return to school, so I’m getting my Master’s Degree at Stanford. I will also admit that I am a literary geek of sorts: I love James Joyce, William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, and e.e. cummings. I am fully in awe of people who know how to put words in such a way that evokes powerful and deep emotions, and I cannot help but admire them. I have just finished writing a book, but publishers aren’t too receptive these days, so I give it to all my friends to read and hopefully they come back with positive feedback. I’m trying to be one of those writers who, indeed, has the ability to put words in that special way, but I’m not sure I’m there yet, or if I’ll ever get there, but I’m trying.
Finally, I have two dogs. They are great, and keep me company, and they have taught me the second main rule of life: to take immense joy in the simple things in life. So, to them, I give hearty thanks.
There you have it! If you want to meet someone as quirky as me, I’m up for it!
Meet a soulmate from Mountain View, United States. I am kind, caring, honest, loyal, thoughtful, and a good friend. I enjoy the big and small things in life, and think the small things often have more significance. I grew up in California, went to grad school in the Midwest, have traveled a fair amount in the US and abroad, and enjoy exploring new places and cultures. I am curious, have a sense of adventure, and love the outdoors and to travel to pretty much anywhere. I like to hike and ski and also enjoy being at home relaxing with family and friends. I love kids and always look forward to spending time with my niece and nephews. I can be silly at times but serious when needed. I enjoy work and am developing a couple of hobbies- photography, especially landscape and night photography, and painting.
I am looking for a great friend and companion in the Bay area to share lifeРІР‚в„ўs adventures and build a life together. Honesty, compassion, open-mindedness, good communication, sense of humor, and a positive attitude are important to me. We will have some shared and some different interests but we can appreciate and learn from one another and be better together than we are on our own.
Date men and women from Mountain View, United States. There are endless adventures to share with that special someone. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the globe a bit, roughly 30 countries. It would be fantastic to experience the next journey with that special man. Being in nature brings me great joy. You will find me spending time at the coast or hiking in the woods rather frequently. I enjoy the theater, black and white movies, and museums. Ballroom dance and yoga also appeal to me – I prefer both over the gym, quite frankly. I'm in great shape, and am blessed with extremely youthful genes.
The ideal mate for me is a man with a compassionate and empathetic nature. He is thoughtful and considerate, with healthy communication skills and conflict resolutions skills. Someone with integrity and fiercely loyal. He has the courage to be introspective. He is truly READY for a long term partnership. We share huge laughs and perhaps an occasional tear. There is strong mutual respect. We enjoy each other's company, even while doing the mundane things. And, we still like each other after a healthy disagreement.
As for preferences, I’m most comfortable with a height between 5’9” to 5’11”. Someone with a toned body would be a plus. I would love it if you look 10 years younger than your age, as I myself do. I’m not a big fan of moustaches, beards, or tattoos. Hair on the scalp, I very much appreciate :) Bonus points given if you live within a 25 mile radius and there are no bridges between us!
