My real passion is travel---I've been to 41 of the 50 states and I've traveled to Europe four times in the past six years (Paris, London, Rome, Amsterdam, Venice...the works!). I also traveled to China on two occasions (Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong). My command of Mandarin Chinese is extraordinary---I can say "Hello", "How are you?" and "Where is the men's restroom?" so fluently that on my last visit, I was nearly nominated to be the next General Secretary of the Communist Party.
I enjoy the performing arts. I got involved in community theater a few years ago so my teenage daughter and I would have an activity to share (we're easy to tell apart---she's the one with the talent). But she's at Rhodes College now (theater and music major), so I'm an empty nester now.
I also had a book published--I strongly advise you to buy a copy---to date I think I've cleared roughly $.02 in royalties for each hour spent writing the book.
I work hard to stay in shape, and I swim 2000 yards/day. I used to be a competitive swimmer back in high school (I think it was when water was first invented). I also work out in the gym for cross-training purposes. When I'm not actively working out, I like to watch football (Go Steelers!), baseball (Go Pirates!), and hockey (Go Penguins!) on TV. I'm also from Pittsburgh originally, if that isn't inherently obvious by my sports interests.
