Date someone special from United States. 40 y/o professional--I work for the federal government, and was transferred to Fort Smith from New York City about nine years ago. I am originally from the Washington, D.C. suburbs and went to college in the Shenandoah Valley in rural Virginia. I enjoy used book stores, flea markets, lazy saturday afternoons at park (I know that sounds like a cliche--I really have Bryant Park and Union Square back in NYC in mind, although the Fort Smith riverfront is shaping up nicely--Creekmore Park is also as cute as a button), ethnic restaurants...also more common & diverse in NYC--the year and a half that I lived in a Greek neighborhood was probably the highlight...but Fort Smith is a much better food town than people tend to give it credit for, one just needs to know where to look), art museums (the Gilcrease in Tulsa is my favorite in this part of the country), travel (sometimes spur-of-the-moment, usually--New Orleans, Santa Fe, Austin), and music (blues, country, rock, punk, celtic, and anything that blends and merges those genres).
I can be reserved, but I open up once I get to know someone. I am open to the idea of committment, but I recognize that it is not to be jumped into recklessly. I consider myself to be a kind, considerate person--gee, I don't quite know if you can list personality traits without making it sound like the boy scout law (...trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly...ect.). I am non-smoker (no dislike, just never picked up the habit).I am looking for someone who is laid-back and unpretentious--someone with a sweet, ready smile and a love of life. My ideal woman would be cute, mature (in temperment and in range of life experience), intelligent, informed, opinionated, and have a good sense of humor. I want to meet someone who knows who she is and where she is going (or at least has a pretty good idea of the direction to travel...). I like educated and informed women--but self educated is great.
On a serious note, I have had prior issues with alcoholism and am involved with whole recovery/12 step situation. Any woman that I date should be aware both that this part of my past (A part which I have come to accept and to deal with) and that my recovery does take up a certain portion of my time.

Humor is a big part of who I am and I'd like to find someone who is fun to be around and keep me on my toes. I can create fun in just about any situation, just gotta have an open mind, let your guard down and not be afraid to cut loose. Hey, life's too short to be uptight and boring, so my motto is if you can't make it fun..it's not worth doing. I'm athletic and like to go to the gym, workout, run, hike, camp, boat, ski, and just enjoy the outdoors (even if it's yard work). So, it'd be great if you were sporty as those activities are more fun with a partner in crime. College football is my fave, just being a part of the excitement and energy is a natural high for me.
My positive attitude and upbeat personality is infectious to those around me. I'm honest, caring and motivated in everything I do. I put forth the effort to make it worth while. I'll treat you to the simple things in life like thoughtfulness and respect...isn't this what you deserve and should expect? So many people say they're not into drama/games but I find it disturbing how many people continue to create it. Please be real and just be yourself...after all the true you will eventually come out.
There are so many people on this site and many want to meet "their match" including me, but some are afraid to take that next step and may miss out on someone special. Meet single man from United States. I am ready to meet the lady that I'll end up watching the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico with. It is my dream to end up on the west coast of Florida or in the Keys, the date this happens is the only unknown. I am a very driven person that has finally figured out my work life balance. My favorite place on this planet is an uncharted little Island about 5 miles west of New Port Richey Florida. My best friend Ken and about 25 other people know where it is. It is only about 200 yards long and 40 yards wide in the middle of Gulf of Mexico. A nice Clam bake for 2 would be the perfect date........But for here in this area, I would like to grab a coffee and go bowling or go-kart racing..or maybe to Eureka window shopping witha little wine:0) Figure out the second date between the two of us.
