I work as a photographer's assistant on the side, as well as blog for a website on life as a woman in the military. I love the outdoors, and animals. If I could, I'd have a bunch of cats and dogs to love, but unfortunately my life is a bit too busy to have any of my own. I grew up in Michgan close to the water, and I'd never be able to settle down anywhere away from a large body of water. I have some odd hobbies: I fly kites and hike, but don't knock the kite flying until you've tried it! Riding horses is my favorite thing to do in the world, but unfortunately I don't get to go that often. I love to dance and have fun with my friends, as well as kick back and watch the game with the guys. Most of my friends are male, so you'd have to be able to deal with that and not get jealous!
What I want in a guy... Someone who has to understand my career come first. I'm in the military, its how it goes. He has to be fun, with a goofy side, but knows when to be serious. A guy that can make me laugh, smile and feel good about myself. I get insecure at times, so he has to be able to reassure me. Any guy that wants to be Mr. Right has to be willing to be a friend first before expecting anything serious. He has to be well spoken, intelligent, goal oriented, with a great sense of humor. There has to be a physical attraction as well, but I'm not too terribly picky on looks so long as you have a personality. He has to be a perfect gentleman - a guy that doesn't respect me or treat me well will get kicked to the curb. If I'm interested, you'll know. If I'm not, don't be pushy and try to get with me. I'm not looking for forever right now, but I'd sure like to find it some day! It may seem like I'm asking for a lot here, but honestly, I'm looking for someone who is going to treat me the way I deserve. Settling just isn't my style!

I live for adventures and new experiences. I am excellent at adapting to my surroundings and am good at living minimally. I feel as though every moment is a lesson. I try to constantly challenge myself with new experiences in order to learn and grow as much as possible. I never worry about too much because I am confident it will all work out.
I arrived in Sitka about a year ago as the result of a seasonal job opportunity. The first real job I had been offered in my field since graduating college. I had to arrive short notice and had no idea that once I got here I would never want go back to Pennsylvania to stay. I spent the winter working odd jobs to get mseelf back to Alaska. Mostly bartending, but even worked a deckhand gig on a commercial fishing boat. I learned so much on that journey and am much calmer and more confident as a result. I laugh and smile often. Life is too short not to have a sense of humor about it.
On my days off if I'm not picking up a restaurant shift, I am likely out hiking or fishing. I try to do both at least once a week. I would like to meet someone easy going and patient who wants to go hiking and fishing too. I am also highly involved in the arts community here, and not very good at staying in one place very long. Being secure and comfortable with yourself is also important to me. I am very outgoing and enjoy conversation. I want a guy who is passionate and adventurous, and would rather take a moment to step outside and admire the stars than be worried about who is winning the game.
