Meet someone special from United States. I am probably most proud of my natural ability to
bring people together, be it a supper club, a picnic, a meeting....
What makes me smile? Animals, kids, seeing positive results of a challenge in my life or others' lives.
Another personal slogan:
Say "Yes" before you say "No." Which means.... looking at the positive possibilities before thinking negatively.

Date a soulmate from United States. Quite a few years of early adulthood were spent living in the bush on a gold mine, and it has shaped my personality. I'm a former dog musher now learning tai chi and doing less punishing exercise. I'm still active, just in slower modes. I enjoy spending time alone, either inside or out, but it would be nice to have someone to share life with. I have always been able to entertain myself.
The city has its benefits and I have been getting there fairly often. I live in Tok but have a place in Fairbanks as well. At home I walk outside 3 miles a day down to -30. In town I utilitze the Dipper--too slippery on the roads. Taking classes, swimming, indoor walking and eating out are some of the things I've beend doing in town. I enjoy attending concerts, hockey games, plays and usually attend the Summer Arts Festival.
I have a good time pretty much wherever I am, though I'm kind of shy at social or fancy outings. I'd rather be with a few people than many or just be out.. In the summer I'd rather be fishing or up at my cabin in the 40 Mile but work often keeps me busy.. My brother-in-law just made me a new fly rod, so I'm going to pick it up again. No longer actively hunting, but just finished processing a caribou. It's the best of both worlds. My canoe gets a workout when I fish for pike. Copper River is where I get my fish but have to charter for halibut since my nephew left the lodge he was working at.
I love to travel and plan to do lots more. I have a motorhome that I took outside this fall so I can do a spring trip. My friends aren't as adventuresome, but I'm not going to stay home just because I'm alone. February will see me headed to Hawaii to bag my 50th state. I've never been a real warm weather lover-- that's why I love Alaska, though a few weeks in the winter can be nice.
But I really love more distant locations and cultures. Germany (for a family reunion) and Czechoslovakia are planned for July, and China will probably be after that. I'm not afraid to do things by myself, but it is nice to share good times. While I own a small business, I am considering retiring this year to allow more time for travel. Actually, I seem to be actively moving in that direction, gradually dropping activities till one of these days it will all be gone.
Currently I have one old dog and when she goes, I'll be visiting other people's pets for a while so I don't have to worry about leaving my babies. Leaving her is the hardest thing about travel.
I guess I would say I am more practical than romantic. My husband was the romantic and I ejoyed the push he gave me in that direction. I'm grateful for the years I had with him-- just wish there had been more. I am honest, sometimes to a fault. I think perhaps I am genetically programmed to be unable to lie. When I focus on something, everything else disappears.
If you give me a chance I'll probably end up doing your genealogy. I love the research and connecting it to history. In Scotland I found my forebears homes (now a granery and a barn) back to 1620's.
