I'm a pretty laid back person and I wouldn't mind finding the same in the person I meet. Honesty is something I pride myself in and is what I look for in a person.
I love my job working as a biologist. Much of my summers I get paid to do what I love. I like being outdoors floating the rivers, kayaking the ocean, and maybe an extended backpacking trip or two each year. There is nothing better than a trip down the river with good music, a few cold beers, and a flyrod.
I tend to use sarcarsm when I'm with a like minded person but can turn it off when not. My staples include, salmon, rice, Frank's Red Hot, and homemade pizza with whatever comes to mind for toppings.
I'd love to meet a genuine and caring individual. Well read and up to date with current events is a plus. Age isn't important but maturity is. I have met many wonderful people in the past but bad luck and work have created long distance relationships that just never work.

Traveled to Austin, TX for work, then came back to Alaska recently.

My interests: I love reading books, but I seem to be reading more on my phone and my computer then paperback. I do love expanding my mind though, and I have an extensive library. I used to play Baseball and Football. I grew up playing badminton as a child, and I did a bit of racquetball and tennis in Florida. The last thing I'd like to mention has to do with religious views. I've done some soul searching between a ton of different religions and I have never found anything that really fits my views. I don't think anyone is wrong - but I don't think anyone is right either. The one thing I will say is "the power of belief is an important aspect of anyone's life - it's not that you believe, but *that* you believe." The power of belief is a strong force, and I don't think that can really be argued. People beat cancer through belief. People fix massive family problems based on belief. People change their lives based on belief. It's the idea that you believe that you can be your better self over what you actually pray to/believe in that I think makes a change in your life.

I have a pretty decent sense of humor and I'm looking for someone who does too. I can be sarcastic some times so you have to have thick skin. Even better if you can dish it out as well. I don't want somebody that's going to abandon their friends the minute they get in to a relationship and I don't want somebody who is going to be jealous of me spending time with my friends. I get along with anybody but I tend to keep a few close friends as opposed to many acquaintances.
I like watching football and baseball but as a Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves fan there hasn't been much to get excited about lately. I also refereed high school football, baseball and wrestling for many years but I'm taking this year off. Last year was the first time that I didn't enjoy the work and I'm hoping I'm just a little burned out on it.
Physically I'm not super picky, but I'm not going to say that looks don't matter at all. It's more important that you be able to carry on a decent conversation and hopefully teach me about something you're passionate about. I'll try to do the same. That said, don't be offended if I'm not interested, I just know myself well enough to know that if I'm not physically attracted to you it's not going to last long at all. I also understand if you shoot me down, no hard feelings.
I enjoy singing and started learning to play the guitar about a year and a half ago so it'd be great to find somebody who likes listening to bad versions of good songs. I like singing karaoke, too.

I enjoy everything to do with the water but sandy beaches are hard to pass by on a sunny day. Nothing beats good friends and food while your sitting around a camp fire. I love to travel, Australia and Europe are high on my list of places to visit. I'm looking for some who is honest, reliable and is able to leave the kids home at times and have fun.
