. I am a retired nurse, true GRITS gal, farm raised with city smarts, acquired by some formal ed but mostly school of hard knocks. I am very proud of my country background and truly believe the hardships of my years (18) of growing up contributed more to who I am than the 5 yrs of college and the 35 years of life in the city of Birmingham, Al. I'm convinced of the truth that a knife is not sharpened on velvet. Don't know how sharp I am but have had my share of trials by fire! After my divorce in 1989, I sold my home in Birmingham and designed and built a Country English B&B on Smith Lake and operated it for 6 years before selling and building a home in Cullman, Al. where I have lived for the last 14 years. I have 4 children that are all living productive lives , giving me 8 grands that I adore. None of them live near but I am in touch often. I am quite a study(so I've been told) in contrasting tastes/cultures. I love to read, travel, antique, design cottage type homes ( live in the last of 3 that I designed and built), interior designing, most music, art, theatre, animals, gardening, cooking, and still work part time in private nursing care with patients in homes or hospitals. I also enjoy doing service work for church and community. I am considered attractive and amicable by friends and sometimes strangers, in good health, take no prescription drugs and even though not athletic, I do practice a healthy lifestyle. I am a faithful Christian of a nondenominational church and attend regularly. I am scripturally divorced. I have now been divorced about as long as I was married, but still have a void that I yearn to fill with the right man. He should be of high moral character,confident and assured without being arrogant or overbearing, gentle and compassionate without being milchtoast/weak/effeminate; affectionate and caring/romantic, without being suffocating/jealous; love to laugh with, but not at others, be a bit oldfashioned in mannerisms but not ostentatious in displaying them. Last but not least, he must have deep spirituality and love for God that is evidenced in the way he lives and not just what he says. I know this is much to ask but my values are premium as I have much to offer: Faithfulness, love, affection, honesty, devotion, reverence, great sense of humor, delicious AND healthy cooking, adventure, mystery, sensuality, and inner beauty!!

I was married for 52 years to a wonderful man who developed Alzheimer's and died after six years of dementia. So I have learned the importance of enjoying life and all it can hold. I am a licensed pilot and enjoy meeting men who love airplanes. I love dogs and possibly one cat named "Alice". I am only interested in men 70 and older because I would have more in common with a mature man who would probably share some of my preferences in music ( classical, easy listening, lite jazz, etc) literature, love of the natural world. I enjoy painting very much and writing is another interest. Having a book published, a flying article also, has inspired me to continue. I love meeting people, everyone has a story!
