I was born in 1957 in Decatur, Illinois. I was the 4th child out of 5. As a child I was always being creative and could not be without a drawing tablet and writing tools. My mother entered me into a drawing contest when I was young, in which they accepted me into their art program. All through school I always enjoyed art class.
I have two children, Matthew and Jill. They are all grown up and Matthew lives in Ft. Worth, Texas and has one son, Seth that is two and a hand full. Jill lives in Denver, Colorado and also has a son, Luca, which is six months old. Jill graduated from Texas Tech, went to Florida School of Law, and now is a lawyer in Denver. I am very proud of both of my children.
I am a widow since August 11, 2010 after my husband took his own life, less than ten feet away from me. I went through a period of self-destruction and with the help of my friends and family I finally recovered, or at least got a good start. I moved from Texas to Alabama to get away from the destruction.
Even at the age I am now, I decided to come back to school and pursue my teaching degree. I have decided to become an elementary teacher so that I may use my life experience to help guide the young children in their future goals.
After acquiring my degree at JSU, I plan on moving to Hawaii to obtain a master's degree at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I hope to continue using my knowledge to encourage young students to obtain their goals and guide them through life.
