I find and collect interesting things on my job like rocks, crystals, old bottles, arrowheads, and skulls. I'm a size 8 (medium), and I'm active but I don't exercise beyond my job, which has me hiking 10 hours a day.
I'm not highly educated, but I'm bright and a good conversationalist. I'm outgoing, adventurous, playful, down to earth, affectionate, and outdoorsy. In summer I love to wear sundresses, but I'm not afraid to get dirty. (I clean up well!) I'm a mountain girl and prefer casual attire, although dressing up on occasion is fun. I went to Woodstock and am still a bit of a hippie. I love nature and care about the environment. Although I'm not greatly spiritual, I try to walk an honorable path. I have no debt and am relatively free to be spontaneous during my three-day weekends. I don't watch much TV, but I do enjoy Bill Maher, Nova, and quality films.
Music is a huge part of my life, and I love to attend live concerts and festivals. I adore folk, blues, 1950s RB, rock and roll, old country, and singer-songwriters like John Prine, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Lucinda Williams, Dave Alvin, Steve Earle, and just about anything you can dance to. (You don't have to dance, but it's a bonus if you do.) Also Springsteen! The Kate Wolf and Strawberry music festivals have the kind of music I love.
I prefer good, nutritious food, but I'm not a food Nazi. I'll eat just about anything. I have an organic garden on my 5 acres. If you're a vegetarian but don't mind if I eat meat, that's fine with me if it's OK with you.
I've never married (by choice) and I'm not looking for a live-in situation, but not ruling it out, either. I'm a young, involved, caring 74 year old. I was widowed twelve years ago and have just been "re-widowed" again after losing my 90-year old mother two months ago. I cared for this delightful little mom who was an amputee but always full of feistiness and spirit, most of which I hope I've inherited.
I've had the good fortune to work myself up to be the CEO of a well-known international transportation company, something I left in 1991 to move to the Sierra Foothills for a quieter life. I love the small-town living and have found other outlets for my energy in the past almost 20 years. Volunteering for several nonprofit agencies has kept my brain active.
I love to stay involved in current events and read at least two weekly news magazines cover to cover. Politics? Well, maybe moderate or slightly center left. Compassion is a major part of who I am and I work to help those who have little. In fact, I've participated in a few medical missions to needy overseas locations, such as Colombia, Philippines, Ukraine. I'm not a clinician but I'm a self-starter and a take-charge kind of person. I have little tolerance for couch potatoes.
I enjoy exercise and work at the gym at least twice a week, more at home. Gotta keep the bod somewhat nimble...
Oh, and I'm a cat person with three indoor kitties and one in&out. I love all animals but a dog takes too much time and energy. Cats just love you for what you are to them and if they know you love them back.
My sons are grown and I have three grandchildren, one of whom works in San Francisco. She caught the international bug from the rest of our family. My brother has lives in Asia for 45 years so I visit with some regularity.
Life is good but it feels as if I'm missing companionship. Is Match.com a viable answer? I don't know yet.
