Since then I’ve lived all over – East Coast, Texas, Northern Midwest – and have just finished school and moved back to Huntsville to be closer to family. That said, there are still some of those deep-south sensibilities. I believe in treating people right, if you know what I mean, and I make an effort every day to do that.
I can tend to be a bit of a smart-ass (in a good way) sometimes. Call it a survival instinct of growing up in a big family... It’s the humor I like about that. I can usually find something funny in any situation – keeps my outlook on life cheerful – so I’m also looking for someone with a sense of humor who can put up with it.
Above all, I like seeing new places, doing things, being active and exploring, so a good travel partner is a must. Off the beaten path is one of my favorite places to be. My hobby was sailing; I took it up while living in Chicago and am completely hooked by it, so much so that it’s no longer a hobby. I have made a career out of it and now sail professionally as an officer (civilian) on merchant ships. When I get the chance, I like to hike and backpack.
I’m looking for a friend who is as adventurous and independent as I am to share life with. Ideally, you'll be someone active who is not afraid to leave the comfort behind and get a little dirty now and again. Also independence is important – should friendship grow to something more I’d like you to be able to stand on your own two feet. Finally, a sense of perspective is key - it’s important that whoever I’m with has a sense of perspective and knows how to let small stuff roll. Beyond that, I’m really open minded about the �who’ in who I �m looking for.
