I've never been a big dater, On top of my busy schedule I've always believed in quality over quantity. I'm not interested in a "hookup" or anything of that nature. I like girls who aren't afraid to get their shoes muddy on a tough hike, but also know how to pretty themselves up for a nice night out. Now that all the serious stuff is out of the way, here's a little about me:
I'm working on my degree in software engineering. I hope just because I study computers you don't think I'm some sort of super nerd. I'll admit sometimes I'll nerd out a little when talking about school or work, just tough it out, it usually doesn't last long and I'm definitely not the "level 47 elf wizard" kind of nerd. I don't really even like video games actually. I'd much rather be outside. I enjoy hiking/camping, grilling out with friends/family, playing sports, and even just nice walks or sitting on the porch. I love to play tennis, it is by far my favorite sport to play. I'm trying to get back into working out, I slacked off more and more when school started getting tougher and tougher, but I've always believed in "sound body, sound mind" so it is become a higher priority to me personally. I enjoy being with friends, and having people over, especially if I get to Grill! I love cooking out, grilling is pretty much the only cooking I enjoy these days. I worked in a restaurant for 6 years, so I'm pretty much burnt out (no pun intended, OK maybe a little) on cooking anything else. I also love watching movies! Whether it is with a group of friends, or with someone special, nothing beats a good movie and a bowl of popcorn. I'd like to think I'm a southern gentleman, I've always believed a man should open a lady's door, pick up the check, and be treated with respect, not like an object to be had. I don't believe Chivalry is dead, it is just not as prevalent as it should be.

My life experiences have really mellowed me out with time & I've become quite reserved so I'm usually glued to some sort of electronic device watching movies, playing games, or listening to music.
When I'm not working these are generally the things that take up most of my time but I do occasionally like to get out & browse thrift stores & flea markets for neat stuff.
Kids are a sore subject for me, although not a deal breaker, they are a huge hurtle for me at the moment & for the foreseeable future but that's for another time.

I am not big on going to the bars all the time, but I like going when there is a good band I can have a beer and listen too. Music is a big part of my life. I like just about everything, and willing to give any music a chance. My dream job would be a music appreciation professor. I took that class in college, and I hated it! I would want to make it fun to be in. It would be called appreciation of modern music. I would start in about the 50's, work up through some classic rock, blues, and folk. Gotta hit some disco and hair bands! Then we get to the music we grew up listening to! 90's! I might have played Mmmm Bop on my guitar for fun... ONCE. Country is a must! A lot of people don't realize how close country, bluegrass, blues, and soul are. If you like country, who are you into? And DO NOT say any of those pop-country bands, thats a good way to get into an internet fight! haha
I love to kayak, hike, ride fourwheelers, swim, go to the gun range, snorkel, "War Eagle" at football games!, duck and deer hunt, catch snakes, play with video and picture cameras, and whatever else I get a whim to do. Playing the guitar is always a great stress relief, I try to sing but some songs just were not ment to be sung by me. So I put together a little groove and make up my own words in a key I can sing and see where it goes. It's even better when you get a group to join in on the fun!
I want to find someone who loves the outdoors and has an adventurous side to try new things outside her comfort zone. I've dated some great people and I can not be mad at ex's because I wouldn't be who I am today without them. I am very happy where I am at in my life now, but there is always a higher hill to climb and more challenges ahead. How high do you want to climb and can you make it to the top? I've always said the best sign of a relationship is when nobody wears the pants.
And I just lied, I haven't always said that, but I've learned what it means to have an equal relationship through "failed" relaitionships in the past. I say "failed" in quotations cause I've learned a lot and it's all made me who I am, so I can't really say its failure. Speaking of that...who I am...I've been labeled a nerdy redneck before. That's probably the most accurate description I've heard. I'm a guy that you likely won't figure out very quickly. I love good intellectual discussion, and I can say I know how to treat a woman with respect and honor - and also throw in just enough risk for adventure, but hopefully still make you feel secure and loved. That's the plan anyways. I like making people happy and helping people see things in different ways. I like my space and independence and love to hunt and be in the woods. I always used to want to be a hunter/gatherer and nomadically travel the plains. Guess I was born too late for that though. I've always been afraid of the term "settling down." Lately though, I think I've decided its not so scary of an idea after all. I think a good balance is ideal.
Let's talk about you. I'm not looking for any type, but here are some big things... adventurous (don't be lame), open-minded, intelligent/witty (most important), and of course, don't try to wear the pants - and don't make me wear them. Even stray cats usually understand the concept when shown the box and will use it regularly. Cats do have claws, and owners must make provision for this. A tall scratching post in a favorite cat area of the house will often keep the cat content to leave the furniture alone. As a last resort, of course, cats can be declawed.
