Date someone special from Alabama, United States. I moved back home in the year 2000 and have been on disability since then. I had my second back surgery in 2002. To top things off, I had a triple bypass about 3 years ago. I am fully capable of taking care of myself and I am financially secure. I live on the old family farmstead and I own part of the land.
I like to do several things such as going out to dinner, go to movies, concerts, etc. but it's a lot more pleasant when I have my lady on my arm.
I am looking for a lady who enjoys the nice, quiet country life with the occasional foray into the city. My lady should be fairly well read and fairly well informed. I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with but I do have my limits. Not many limits and one really has to work hard to reach them.
There are several deal breakers. Please no druggies, no alcoholics and no religious types. If you fall into any of these categories just move on and don't waste my time or yours.
I am a beer drinker in the classic sense. Recreationally, I have a few beers a couple of times a month. Normally with hot wings. When I go out for dinner I occasionally have wine, but will order their best draft beer if it's a beer that I haven't had in a long time.
I did my undergraduate work at UAH and my graduate work at the University of Nebraska. I have a half dozen international publications, the two most important of which are a new random number generator for computers and a low carb cookbook. I spend my time working to develop equations for every bank shot in pool up to 5 rails, a method of baking a good, crusty bread in the home oven and two mathematical algorithms. I find this very satisfying and hope to get them published at some point in the future.
I've listened to nothing but classical music for the last 34+ years. It was a conscious decision to switch from whatever music was popular at the time.
To sum everything up, other than working to publish papers in a "professional" venue, I'm just a normal guy. I stay at home a lot (which could change). Whenever I want "gourmet" food, I don't need to go out. I've put my evening time aside for other enjoyable pursuits.

I have practiced fine art when I get commissions or happen to have enough money, time & space to execute my work. It would be nice to have a patron of coarse. I had a home/studio in New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina wiped me out. C'est la vie, eh? I call St. Louis, Mo., Montgomery, Al., and New Orleans home for now as I travel from one city to the other getting my _____ together, (work, art & a life). No complaints, I'm very happy to be alive and in good health & have some really fine friends.
I didn't start to open my email with the intention of engaging in this subscription but here I am. For some reason I feel self-conscious, odd, it's probably because I have never done anything like this before! So, to continue on, I must be looking for an intelligent, attractive, independent, self sufficient, creative and interesting woman. That should be easy enough, right? Nobody's perfect. I have three children: a son on his own out of state, a daughter who just finished getting a certificate in art restoration in Italy, and a son who is a sophomore in college.
I am very tall and in fairly good shape, although I'm afraid I must use glasses to read! I jog or walk two or three times a week in my neighborhood - a beautiful area. I also work out on a universal machine I have at home.
Personally, I read rather than watch TV. (I do love books!) I love to travel, whether locally, within the US, or overseas. In 2011 I visited my last continent, Antarctica; the picture from Tierra del Fuego was taken before I got on the cruise ship. Last spring I spent a week in California visiting my youngest during his spring break. The Death Valley photo is of the two of us in early April 2011. My main picture was taken by my daughter in 2010 (who won't let me include her picture), the fourth is Christmas 2011 at Loch Ness, and the last is with my oldest, also in 2011.
I am writing a non-fiction book at present (I have published one already) and I'm thinking about fiction as well. The book I'm working on now involves a lot of travel for research within a 200-mile radius. I've written about two-thirds of what I had planned so far; somehow work keeps interfering with my writing!
I'm interested in finding a congenial companion who would enjoy movies, hiking, camping, and traveling - and who could introduce me to her activities that I might enjoy. Night clubs and loud parties are not really for me, but I am open to other interests. I would particularly like to find romance--that sheer joy of being with someone again--if it ever comes my way.
